EcomSchool is a pilot educational resource supporting KeyStage 4 level learning in ICT. In particular, the resources are being developed to support OCR Nationals in ICT: Unit 8 - Technological Innovation and E-commerce, but they could also be useful to other ICT qualifications and more advanced levels of study.
At the heart of the resource is a fully functioning e-commerce store, with most of the features you would expect of an ecommerce store, except for processing real credit card transactions. Pupils can use the store as buyers, browse for products, add them to a basket and purchase with a mock-credit card, or log-in as the site owner and see the back-office functions that the seller would use (upload new products, set up special offers, process orders etc.). In addition, we plan to develop a series of worksheets and interactive resources which will directly address the assessment objectives of Unit 8 of the OCR National in ICT. There will also be a Teacher Pack with guidance and ideas for using the resource. These are being developed by teachers in the pilot phase.
